The MAJ Oceanic is a 47-metre, two-masted teak phinisi built at Bira, Sulawesi, in 2019: ‘6+1’ suites for twelve guests and a crew of fourteen, chartered as a whole ship in Komodo from May to October and Raja Ampat from November to April.
The MAJ Oceanic is a two-masted, gaff-rigged motorsailer, built of teak in the phinisi tradition at Bira, on Sulawesi, in 2019. She measures 47 metres overall on a 10.5-metre beam and cruises at seven to eleven knots. Her operator counts the cabins as ‘6+1’ and sets her capacity at twelve guests, looked after by a crew of fourteen, and her rate card is written for the whole ship rather than by the cabin.
The suites were drawn, in the operator’s words, by ‘a group of land-based designers’ as ‘a floating reflection of a world-class resort’, and each carries an explorer’s name. Zheng He, the 120-square-metre Admiral Suite, is the only cabin on the bridge deck, with its own balcony and a 270-degree view; the operator bills it as the largest master suite on any phinisi on the market. Columbus measures 35 square metres. Magellan, Marco Polo, Vasco da Gama and James Cook are 25 square metres each, with a multi-jet shower and an open sitting area with a chaise, built-in dresser and writing desk.
Menus, the operator says, ‘pay homage to the regions where we sail’, and a bespoke menu can be planned with the chef and served wherever on board the guests choose. Golf is played off the top deck with biodegradable balls that contain fish food. She is typically based in Komodo from May to October and in Raja Ampat from November to April. For 2026 the whole-ship rate is USD 13,000 a night plus 12% VAT in Komodo, or USD 14,000 in Raja Ampat, Banda and Alor, including paddleboards, kayaks, water skis, a wakeboard, dive gear with an instructor, park fees and airport transfers.

We never show a date as free until the captain confirms it.
