Private phinisi liveaboard · KomodoLa Unua

La Unua is a 25-metre phinisi of ironwood and teak, hand-built and renovated in 2020 by phinisi craftsmen from Sulawesi. She is run by Kamma Sail, which built its fleet from traditional phinisi re-purposed for liveaboard cruising, and her operator states that she sails only in Komodo National Park. Her three double cabins, each with its own bathroom, air-conditioning and hot water, take six adults and two children.

The two family cabins, one forward on the lower deck and one amidships on the upper deck, each have a double bed and a single for a child, with portholes and windows. The third, the View Cabin, spans the full width of the boat behind panoramic windows that give a 180-degree outlook. Around them are three lounging areas with sunbeds and an air-conditioned indoor dining room.

She is chartered privately for up to seven guests, and her five-day leisure and diving circuits can also be booked by the cabin once five guests sign up. Leisure cruises include meals, soft drinks, airport transfers, kayaking, a banana boat, snorkelling gear and an hour of wakeboarding a day; the diving option adds up to three dives a day. Park fees are extra, and Discover Scuba Diving is offered on private cruises.
