La Galigo was built in 2012 by the skilled craftsmen from Bira, Southern Sulawesi, following the centuries-old traditions of the Bugis tribe. Our two-mast sailboat, known as a ‘Phinisi,’ is inspired by the Dutch Clipper vessels of years past. Crafted by hand from ironwood and teak, the Bugis master boat builders have been crafting these iconic boats for centuries.

The hull of La Galigo is made from durable ‘Kayu Besi’ or Ironwood, while the interiors are finished with rich teak, giving the vessel a total weight of over 169 gross tons. Designed and managed by an experienced Liveaboard diver, La Galigo prioritizes comfort and practicality, featuring a dedicated dive platform at the rear.
