La Galigo was built in 2012 by craftsmen from Bira, South Sulawesi, in the Bugis tradition: a two-masted phinisi with a hull of kayu besi, or ironwood, and teak interiors, 33 metres long and 8 metres wide, which her owners put at over 169 gross tons. She was designed, and is managed, by an experienced liveaboard diver; she has a dedicated dive platform at the stern and an engine room soundproofed from the cabins. Her last refit was in 2025.

Her seven cabins come in three classes. Four 12 m² deluxe cabins sit on the lower deck; two 14 m² master cabins and the 22 m² Suite are on the upper deck, the Suite with its own lounge, a 48-inch screen, a refrigerator and a balcony with 270-degree views. She sleeps 14 guests, with a crew of around 17. Meals are Asian and Western buffets: a self-serve early breakfast, then a full breakfast, lunch, dinner and post-dive snacks.

Diving sets her routine: typically three day dives from about 7am and a night dive, with guests split into three groups, each with its own guide, 2 × 6-metre tenders, Nitrox averaging 32 per cent at extra cost, and no dive deeper than 30 metres. She sells scheduled departures cabin by cabin, guaranteed to sail however many are booked, as well as private charters, on itineraries of six to ten days in Komodo, seven to twelve in Raja Ampat, and routes through Bangka, Lembeh, Sangihe and Halmahera.
