Diving Guide
Komodo National Park is one of the world's premier diving destinations, where the convergence of the Flores Sea and Indian Ocean creates nutrient-rich currents that support an explosion of marine life. From adrenaline-pumping drift dives at Castle Rock to gentle manta encounters at Manta Alley, Komodo delivers extraordinary underwater experiences. The variety is unmatched — one dive might feature a wall of soft corals, the next a volcanic black sand slope with rare critters.
A submerged pinnacle rising from 30m to 4m below the surface, Castle Rock is swept by powerful currents that attract massive aggregations of pelagic fish. Divers hook in behind rocks and watch the show as walls of fusiliers part to reveal patrolling sharks and trevally.
A small rock pinnacle considered by many to be the single best dive site in Indonesia. Every inch of the wall is covered in vibrant soft corals, sea fans, and sponges. The currents can be strong but reward with incredible marine life density.
A shallow channel on the southern side of Komodo Island where manta rays gather to feed on plankton-rich water. The reduced visibility is a trade-off for the presence of these magnificent creatures. Both reef and oceanic mantas are sighted, with spans reaching 5+ metres.
A beautiful pinnacle with a resident school of sweetlips, swirling anthias, and excellent macro life in the crevices. Less current than Castle Rock, making it more accessible while still offering amazing biodiversity.
A gentle drift dive along a coral-covered slope, perfect for less experienced divers. The healthy hard coral gardens are home to multiple turtle species, and the gentle current carries you along walls of colour.
Located in Horseshoe Bay on Rinca's southern coast, this site is a macro photographer's dream. The volcanic substrate supports an otherworldly garden of crinoids, sea apples, and tube worms, with rare critters hiding in every corner.
